Brian Laundrie’s family changes history when they last saw him
NORTH PORT, Fla. (NewsNation Now) – Lawyer for the Laundrie family said Tuesday that Brian Laundrie’s parents now believe they last saw him on September 13, a day earlier than they did had told investigators.
“The laundries based the date of Brian’s departure on their memories of certain events,” said their lawyer, Steven Bertolino. “After further communication with the FBI and confirmation of the Mustang’s presence at the Laundrie residence on Wednesday September 15th, we now believe that the day Brian left for a hike on the reservation was Monday September 13th. “

Bertolino also opened up on why Brian Laundrie left his girlfriend Gabby Petito in the middle of a trip across the country, just weeks before his body was discovered in a camping area in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, in Wyoming.
“Brian returned home to Tampa from SLC on 08/17 and returned to SLC on 08/23 to join Gabby,” Bertolino said in a series of text messages to NewsNation from Nexstar. “To my knowledge, Brian and Gabby paid for the flights because they shared the expenses. Brian returned home to get items and empty and shut off the storage unit to save money as they considered extending the road trip.
Bertolino’s texts arrived as Brian Laundrie’s sister Cassie Laundrie answered questions from a small group of protesters outside her home on Monday and clarified questions about when her brother went missing.
She confirmed that Brian Laundrie returned home to Florida from the western United States on August 17, five days after he and Gabby Petito were arrested and separated by police in Moab, Utah.
The group asked if Cassie Laundrie believed her brother had killed Gabby Petito and if she believed he was still alive. His answers to both questions were the same: “I don’t know.
The FBI has issued an arrest warrant for Brian Laundrie. He is wanted for “using an unauthorized access device” related to his activities after Petito’s death. The FBI said it used a debit card and PIN to access two bank accounts on August 30 and September 1. He is also the only person involved in Petito’s murder.
Brian Laundrie’s parents say they last saw him on his way to a hike in the Carlton Reservation in Florida, although they did not report his disappearance until a few days later. Investigators focused intensive research on the area.

Petito disappeared on a trip across the country with Brian Laundrie in a converted motorhome. The trip was well documented on social media until it came to an abrupt end, allegedly somewhere in Wyoming. Petito, 22, was reported missing on September 11 by her parents after she failed to answer calls and texts for several days. His body was discovered a few days later near Grand Teton National Park.
