Ecobank Nigeria has announced special loans for parents and guardians to enable them to pay the school fees of their children and wards before the resumption of the 2021/2022 school year. In addition, the bank grants a special infrastructure loanis available educational institutions. This, according to the bank, will equip them adequately for the new session. Announcing the bank’s various “back to school” initiatives in Lagos, Korede Demola-Adeniyi, Head of Consumer Banking Services, said he was in line with the bank’s global sstrategy to support the development of the country’s education sector, adding that Ecothe bank’s digital offerings aim to reduce the financial burden on parents, students and schools, and also make it easier to pay hassle-free fees.

She listed digital offerings to include Ecobank Mobile App, EcobankPay and Ecobank Online for contactless fee payment; personal loans and payday advance packages at competitive interest rates, international transfers for paying tuition fees abroad, and affordable remittance offers. She also noted that families abroad who wish to send money home to help with fees can do so free of charge on the Rapidtransfer app. The bank also provided the Banking-for-School pack to educational institutions to access working capital and loans. Features of this pack include easy fee collections, zero fees on collection accounts with EcobankPay, secure online banking with Omni Lite, and cards for easy payments.

According to her, “As a bank that has the best interests of its customers at heart, especially in this time of school recovery, we understand the importance of education. Children deserve to go to school and we allow parents to guarantee them this fundamental right.

Speaking specifically on the loans available for educational institutions, she noted that they could be accessed without a bottleneck as the bank took into account the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Further, Ms. Demola-Adeniyi urged schools to designate the bank as their preferred financial institution for payments and collections, noting that Ecobank has demonstrated pedigree and expertise in collecting fees, local and international levels. She encouraged schools and individuals who have not yet opened an Ecobank account to do so in order to access the available offers.
